Tour Information

Tours and visits are available to the public at the Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge. A free public walking tour of the Refuge is normally held on the last Saturday of each month. Interested parties meet outside the Navy base main gate at 8:30 A.M.. The tour lasts for approximately two hours and covers a walking distance of one mile round trip. For handicapped individuals and others a van is available to assist if necessary or requested. Reservations are required at least two weeks in advance. For Special Accommodations, please call three weeks in advance. Visits that are not tours are limited to special groups or to those individuals who have made arrangements with the Refuge Manager.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer work days occur on the first Wednesday of each month from 8 A.M. until noon, and are open to all US citizens with a Government ID. Participants must register two weeks in advance by calling the Refuge office at 562-598-1024 and will be picked up from the Main Gate parking lot (800 Seal Beach Blvd.) at 7:55 A.M.. Activities typically involve work in the native plant nursery, planting native plants, weeding, and trash pick-up.
